CL2305 Class Test - Challenge 2

Someone tried the frist one and says 141KPa. Its a good try but sorry to say that it is a wrong answer. The answer is 61KPa.
Procedure:
1. Converting 300mmHg to KPa we get ~40KPa (hope everyone is correct until here)
2. Now P(abs) = P(atm) + P(gage)
3. Hence P(abs) = 101KPa - 40KPa ........ the reason is clearly stated in the problem as vaccum pressure and hence it is a negative value.... understand 760mmHg is 1atm and anything below it is a vaccum pressure !!!
Okay.. had a sufficient warm. Now try this challenge.
Given a system as in the figure attached. Its a vessel filled with oil. Two pressure gages are attached to it. PG"A" is attached right at the bottom and another PG "B" is attached at an height of 12in from PG "A". The difference in pressure between the two gage ("A" and "B") is stated as 1psi. You are asked to calculate
a. The specific weight of the oil
2. Mass density of the oil
All the best
